UTD 6: Sleepies vs. Haunted Castle
Bonus Mp3 (not for the faint of heart):
Jungle----Electric Light Orchestra (ft. Sleepies and Haunted Castle)
Well, it's taken three days to sift through the marathon of idiotic jabbering that took place on Sunday, but UTD Episode 6 has arrived. We struggled for hours over how to edit all the material down to a concise, thematically cohesive hour of music and discussion. That pretty much failed. Instead, we decided not to really edit anything at all. This week's episode is the kind of thing that should be listened to only to insure that something like it never happens again.

Metallica's Vision for a Better Musical Tomorrow.
Apparently Metallica believes that the future of music lies in releasing albums through "Guitar Hero" and similar styled video games. That's just great fellas. It's definitely more important to appeal to the army of PlayStation 3 rapscallions who would rather acquire their music collection via television speakers than to those loyal fans who may not have contributed to Lars Ulrich's new, diamond-bedazzled elephant by purchasing "St. Anger" but for some reason didn't mind that aural catastrophe sullying their undeserving stereos and downloaded it anyway. I'm well aware that there are plenty of bands that I love and respect on the Guitar Hero soundtracks (Dead Kennedys and The Ramones immediately come mind) but to turn this into "an expected way to release an album?" Count me out. I don't need to play a video game as an excuse to listen to music, thank you very much. Luckily Metallica doesn't warrant being listened to in any format.
Speaking of shitty metal, stay tuned for our Sleepies vs. Haunted Castle episode which will be up soon.

UTD 5: Confrontation
BONUS MP3: Voodoo Glow Skulls Death Threats
This week we gear up for our Sleepies vs. Haunted Castle showdown with some songs about/anecdotally related to confrontation. Other topics include: shit talking, heckling, feuds, epic battles between man and beast, landlords, international diplomacy, nihilism, MTV, and whether or not the snakes are awesome (they are).
We should also note that on this week's show we take some jabs at Haunted Castle and the lip tattoos they've recently acquired. Let it be known that all these remarks were made with beer in our brains and love in our hearts. If anything, it reveals our lack of confidence going into next weeks showdown. That is not to say we won't be ready to crush those goofy fuckers come next Sunday. Now, go listen to Haunted Castle.

UTD 4: Touch and Go
Last month’s news that Touch and Go Records planned to stop releasing new music made us pause and chew on the following facts:
1) Touch and Go began as a fanzine during the Carter Administration.
2) Big Black’s Songs About Fucking came out when our genitals were used only for waste management purposes.
3) When Slint, Jesus Lizard and the Butthole Surfers recorded and released their iconic albums we were still stuck in grade school, eating paste and flicking boogers.
The only thing us youngins can do to remember Touch and Go (other than whine about missing Gibby Haynes lighting stuff on fire) is pay homage to their legendary back catalog and live in awe of Steve Albini walking around on stilts talking about harmonic percolators ... which is not so bad indeed.

Rock Your Asses, Wipe Your Feet.
So Converse recently released a line of Pink Floyd signature All Stars...
Add these to a growing list of band inspired footwear. What with declining record sales and a crumbling economy, methinks this might be an interesting solution?...probably not. Until Armani puts out the Tom Waits alligator skin loafers, here are some of my favorite rock and roll shitkickers...
(ok, I would totally rock the Descendents ones...)

UTD Field Trip: ORANGE OWL
Saturday night Up the Drunx snuck out and went to see a bunch of weirdos play music. Amps were toppled, Sleepies were heckled, beer cans were thrown, O.T.H. covered T.L.C. and Haunted Castle drank what appeared to be vodka from a giant machine gun/played their first show.
Old Testament Heroes tellin' shit like it is.
O.T.H.

Haunted Castle
Dan Bones of Haunted Castle
Haunted Castle
Cartoon metal head Jack Crank. Much to the disappointment of all the Sleepies, Jack's band turned out to be rather un-heckle-able. To compensate we spent most of the time throwing garbage.
Drunkards.
Thanks to Jack, Dan and everyone residing at Orange Owl for opening up your home to potential destruction.
